MS221 Exploring Mathematics

I registered for the course MS221 starting at the 14th of february. This is a course which I am very excited about. I am still working on MST121 but MS221 is designed to be studied next to MST121 or just after it.
This course is intended for study with or immediately after Using mathematics (MST121). It builds on the concepts and techniques in Using mathematics and uses the same mathematical software. It also looks at questions underlying some of those techniques, such as why particular patterns occur in mathematical solutions and how you can be confident that a result is true. It introduces the role of reasoning in mathematics and offers opportunities to investigate mathematical problems. This course and Using mathematics will together give you a good foundation for higher-level mathematics and physics courses.

MST121 TMA02

Shipped to tutor. And with a fair chance of a satisfactory score. What a relief. I have been entirely focused on this assignment for the last six days. I have to change my study habits a bit. It is possible to make the assignmnents right after a studying a course unit and an assignment is usually about three or four course units. The next deadline, cut-off date is on the 18th of march. Topic: calculus and differential equations applied to modelling. - The first I have to do now is make a detailed studyplan for the next two months, and start studying asap. It is essential to study every day, in that respect is math like playing a musical instrument: practice is mandatory, every day.

Procrastination

For the last six weeks or so I have suffered from severe procrastination.
For an individual, procrastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt, the loss of personal productivity, the creation of crisis and the disapproval of others for not fulfilling one's responsibilities or commitments. These combined feelings can promote further procrastination. While it is normal for people to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological or physiological disorder.
How odd, procrastinating my hobby, the stuff I like to do most. Before I started OpenUniversity mathematics i acted as though addicted on math. Maybe it's the compulsary topics instead of freewheeling mathematics, or just anxiety of bad grades. I asked for an immediate holiday at work of a week to get things back in order. Today I studied all day in the library of a university nearby. And I am glad I did. What a relief, it's as though I never procrastinated. So now I must focus every day in order not to fall back in the procrastination trap. My holiday will be worth it if I make the cut-off date next week for another assignment. While dark and pessimistic yesterday I am optimistic today. I'll keep you posted.

Since I'll be adding some IT modules in my mathematics degree program and because I am a professional coder anyway I might post some IT related math in this blog in the near future.
